Works For Me
Posi-Tone proudly debuts Works For Me, a fresh musical collective brought together under a fitting name. Produced by Marc Free, this carefully curated ensemble combines the unique talents of several emerging jazz artists, forging a tight camaraderie that delivers performances rich in emotional clarity and sincerity. Their debut album, Reach Within, showcases this vibrant collective spirit.
Alexa Tarantino — A dynamic jazz saxophonist and flutist gaining rapid acclaim, Tarantino leads her own band and performs widely across genres. She’s a key player with Sherrie Maricle & the DIVA Jazz Orchestra, Arturo O’Farrill & The Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, Cécile McLorin Salvant’s OGRESSE, and co-leads the quintet LSAT with Lauren Sevian. Alexa is also active in East Coast musical theater and serves on faculty for Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Youth Education Programs, directing one of their High School Jazz Academy big bands. She is founder and director of the Rockport Jazz Workshop in Massachusetts.
Tony Davis — Raised in a musical family as the son of trombonist/composer Steve Davis and pianist/composer Mary DiPaola, Tony is an accomplished guitarist making his mark in New York. After studies at The Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz, he continues honing his craft with masters like Peter Bernstein, Paul Bollenback, and Steve Wilson. With a debut album slated for 2020, Tony is poised for a bright future on the jazz scene.
Caili O’Doherty — A graduate of Berklee College of Music and Queens College’s Aaron Copland School, Caili has emerged as a prominent jazz pianist in New York City. Her 2015 debut album Padme garnered attention, with a follow-up planned for 2020. Caili performs regularly as a bandleader and sidemusician and is active in jazz education, working with Jazz at Lincoln Center’s WeBop early childhood and Jazz for Young People programs. She is a faculty member at the Stanford Jazz Workshop and Litchfield Jazz Camp.
Adi Meyerson — Raised in Jerusalem, Adi moved to New York City in 2012, studying bass with masters including Reggie Workman, Ron Carter, and Charles Tolliver. Her 2017 debut, Where We Stand, highlights her skills as bassist and composer. Adi also dedicates time to education through Jazz at Lincoln Center and teaches at the Stanford Jazz Workshop.
Joe Strasser — Raised in Connecticut, Joe moved to NYC in 1990 as part of the inaugural Jazz and Contemporary Music Program at The New School alongside notable peers like Brad Mehldau and Roy Hargrove. Since then, he’s toured globally with artists such as George Coleman, Harold Mabern, and Etta Jones. Joe co-led the funk band The Hotpants and, with dozens of album credits, remains an in-demand sideman in New York City.
Together, Works For Me offers a compelling blend of fresh voices and seasoned artistry, creating a collective sound that truly “works” on every level.
