Shauli Einav / Generations

Israel-born saxophonist Shauli Einav unleashes a big sound on his 2013 record "Generations." The album features a well-balanced program of Einav's exciting compositions along with a few tasty covers thrown in for good measure. Einav is joined on the date by an able rhythm section of pianist Don Friedman, bassist Or Bareket, and the drummer Eliot Zigmund. Flautist Itai Kriss weighs in on a few numbers, and this hard-hitting session really swings solidly from beginning to end, certain to delight straight ahead jazz fans everywhere.
